Campbeltown — Kintyre Peninsula
Established MDCCCXXVIII — 1828
Royal History
Founded in 1828 by the Mitchell family on the shores of Campbeltown, Springbank stands as Scotland’s most remarkable distillery—the only one in the nation to carry out every stage of production on a single site, from malting the barley to bottling the spirit.
In its Victorian heyday, Campbeltown was the whisky capital of Scotland, home to over thirty distilleries. Today only three remain, and Springbank endures as the standard-bearer—a living monument to the craft and stubbornness that defines the finest Scotch whisky.
Still family-owned after nearly two centuries, the distillery’s methods have changed remarkably little. Traditional floor malting, direct-fired stills, and a steadfast refusal to bow to fashion have produced a spirit of uncommon character and depth.
